AECDR meeting with CADA in Brussels
The AECDR recently met with their Chinese partner association, CADA, marking a crucial step towards strengthening collaboration despite current tensions between Europe and China over e-vehicle tariffs. This partnership highlights the commitment of both European and Chinese dealers to work together, sharing best practices and fostering mutual growth. By continuing to collaborate, they aim to drive the mobility of the future, ensuring innovation and progress in the automotive industry.
Europe and China in Dialogue on e-vehicle tariffs
The EU and China have agreed to start consultations regarding the EU’s anti-subsidy investigation into Chinese electric vehicles, following a video call between China’s Wang Wentao and the EU’s Valdis Dombrovskis. This dialogue aims to address concerns about subsidies while adhering to WTO rules. Despite the ongoing trade tensions, this move reflects a mutual commitment to finding a balanced resolution. The consultations will continue at various levels in the coming weeks to address the issues of injurious subsidization effectively.
State of Play after the elections
The European Parliament is currently in the process of organizing itself following the recent elections. MEPs have submitted their requests for committee assignments, and negotiations are ongoing. Decisions regarding the composition of these committees will be finalized during the first plenary session of the new mandate in July. Additionally, the top EU jobs are still undecided, leaving the positions for important commissioners, such as those for the internal market, environment, and transport, open. These roles will be crucial in shaping the future for European car dealers.
